IMI JU Finances
Financing of IMI JU - projects

Source: www.imi.europa.eu/content/mission
The financing of IMI JU projects consists of two parts:
- 1 billion Euro from FP7
- 1 billion Euro from EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations)
These 2 billion Euro are allocated for a time span of 9 years, from 2008 2017.

Cost categories:
- Direct Costs (in direct relation to the project; they have to be provable)
- Personnel Costs (recorded by so-called timesheets)
- Travel Costs
- Consumables / Equipment
- Subcontracting
- Other Cots
- Indirect Costs
Indirect Costs
Indirect costs cannot definitely be allocated to a project. However, they are in relation to the project activities (e.g. rent, electricity, telephone bills, etc.). The flat rate for indirect costs is at 20% for all partners in IMI JU-projects.
Activity Groups
The direct costs are divided into four activities. Each activity has its own funding rate:

Example of the calculation of EC Funding
| Direct Costs (research) | 100 |
| + Indirect Costs (20%) | 20 |
| Total eligible costs | 120 |
| Fundingrate (research) | 120 * 0,75 |
| EC-Funding | 90 |
