Financing of IMI JU - projects

Financing of IMI JU - projects

Source: www.imi.europa.eu/content/mission

The financing of IMI JU projects consists of two parts:

  • 1 billion Euro from FP7
  • 1 billion Euro from EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations)

These 2 billion Euro are allocated for a time span of 9 years, from 2008 – 2017.

Cost categories:

  • Direct Costs (in direct relation to the project; they have to be provable)
    • Personnel Costs (recorded by so-called timesheets)
    • Travel Costs
    • Consumables / Equipment
    • Subcontracting
    • Other Cots
  • Indirect Costs

Indirect Costs

Indirect costs cannot definitely be allocated to a project. However, they are in relation to the project activities (e.g. rent, electricity, telephone bills, etc.). The flat rate for indirect costs is at 20% for all partners in IMI JU-projects.

Activity Groups

The direct costs are divided into four activities. Each activity has its own funding rate:

Example of the calculation of EC Funding

Direct Costs (research)   100 €
+ Indirect Costs (20%)      20 €
Total eligible costs    120 €

 Fundingrate (research)  120 € * 0,75
 EC-Funding  90 €
